The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Historical Society (B&ORHS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization founded in 1979 and dedicated to preserving the history of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad (B&O), the first common carrier railroad in the United States. The B&ORHS has members all over the world across a variety of railroad interests, from model railroading to research to preservation.
The B&ORHS owns and maintains a large archive of original B&O documentation, photos, and artifacts in Eldersburg, Maryland (west of Baltimore), which is open to researchers. The B&ORHS also publishes a quarterly magazine, The Sentinel, which is available in print and digital formats. The organization is active as a consultant in the development of accurate B&O model railroad products.
The B&ORHS is always welcoming new members. All memberships come with a full year subscription to The Sentinel, and sustaining members also receive a copy of the organization’s annual B&O calendar. Each year, the B&ORHS holds a major convention and two mini-conferences for its members, and members enjoy discounts from the B&ORHS Company Store. Consider joining today to take advantage of these great benefits, or contact us for more information!
